A Royal Beginning

In early 2022, Royal Poly Products embarked on a challenge that would mark the true beginning of our journey as Australia’s first manufacturer of high-performance pipeline pigs. The goal: to design and produce Pigs made in Australia.

It wasn’t just another manufacturing job; it was a test of engineering skill, chemistry knowledge, persistence, and the unwavering commitment of our small team.

Endless Days and Nights of R&D

Developing this pig manufacturing set up meant more than just scaling up existing processes—it required a completely new coating rig, which had to be designed, trialled, and perfected from scratch. Our workbench became both laboratory and factory floor as we tested polyurethane chemistries, coating techniques, and production methods late into the night.

There were countless trials, each step bringing us closer to a solution that would meet the demanding quality and durability standards our clients expect.

Family in the Middle of the Story

One of the most treasured moments during this journey happened when our parents were visiting from overseas. It was a late evening; Deepika captured a photo that tells the whole story without words—the kids still in the car parked just behind her, our parents walking into the workshop to check on us, while we were deep in the final stages of perfecting the pig’s design.

It was a true family effort—blending home and work commitments, supporting each other, and sharing in the small victories along the way.

From Concept to Client

By August 2022, the factory was in full operation. Another photo from that time shows the first-ever 14” Coated Medium Density Foam Pigs packed and ready for pick-up by our client over east.

For us, these were more than just finished products—they were proof that Australian innovation could stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the best in the world. It was the start of what we now call Our Royal Story.

Why It Matters
